The Shetland Shepherd, or Sheltie
History of Anderson Brando - Goias, Brasil
The Shetland Shepherd, or Sheltie , is a small to medium breed of dog originating from the Shetland Islands in Scotland. Traditionally, they were used to herd sheep due to their agility and intelligence. They are alert and energetic dogs, with a lush double coat that comes in various colors, such as sable, tricolor and blue merle. In addition to their working abilities, Shelties make great family companions. They are loyal, affectionate, and get along well with children and other pets when socialized from an early age. However, they may try to herd children due to their strong herd instinct. In terms of grooming, Shelties need daily exercise and regular brushing to keep their coat beautiful. They are suitable for smaller spaces as long as they receive enough activity.
